How to send a TradingView alert to NinjaTrader

Short answer

NinjaTrader is both a platform and a brokerage, so Shifu connects to whichever rail actually holds your account. If you sign in with a Tradovate username and password — a NinjaTrader brokerage account — you get the Tradovate route, which carries live orders today. If your NinjaTrader desktop sits on a prop-firm account with a system name like “Rithmic 01”, you get the Rithmic route, also live. Nothing is installed on your NinjaTrader desktop.

NinjaTrader Clearing, LLC also trades as Tradovate, and a NinjaTrader desktop can also be pointed at a prop firm’s account. So there is no separate “NinjaTrader mode” in Shifu; the rail your account reaches us on decides what the route can do. The connect dialog asks about the one thing you can see: the login screen in front of you.

A Tradovate or NinjaTrader username and passwordNinjaTrader’s own brokerage, over TradovateThe full Tradovate route, carrying real orders today: native brackets, a trailing stop with an arm-after trigger, a new entry replacing the old position, balance and positions shown in Shifu.
A system name your firm gave you, like “Rithmic 01”Your prop-firm account, over RithmicThe Rithmic route, live: native brackets and a trailing stop with the same arm-after trigger.

Many Apex, MyFundedFutures and Tradeify accounts sign in over Rithmic, and Bulenox’s own site names Rithmic, not ProjectX. Firms that only sign in over ProjectX, such as TopstepX, are not supported today. Check your firm’s rules on automation before you connect.

  1. Connect the account

Dashboard → Accounts → Connect account → NinjaTrader. Answer the one question about how you sign in. A Tradovate login sends you to Tradovate’s own approval page; a Rithmic login asks for your username, the system name your firm gave you, and your account number, spelled exactly as your firm shows them.

  2. Create a bot and route it to the account

Dashboard → Bots → New bot: name, default ticker, default size, and how each trade is sized. Then Account routing: switch the NinjaTrader account on and pick a fixed contract count or a multiplier of the alert’s size.

  3. Create the TradingView alert

From the bot’s Setup tab copy the link and a ready-made message. In TradingView press Alt+A, set the condition, open Notifications, tick Webhook URL and paste the whole link, paste the message, set “Once Per Bar Close”, and click Create.

  4. Test, then go live

Send a test signal from the Setup tab and watch it land under Alerts. Turn on Live routing on the account when you want real orders. Your NinjaTrader platform shows the resulting orders and positions as it always does.

Questions people ask

Do I need an add-on inside NinjaTrader 8?

No. Shifu talks to the broker that holds your account, and your NinjaTrader platform shows the result. There is nothing to install on the desktop and nothing that has to stay running there.

Which rail does my prop firm use?

That depends on which rail your firm puts you on, not on a Shifu setting. Many Apex, MyFundedFutures and Tradeify accounts connect over Rithmic, and Bulenox’s own site names Rithmic, not ProjectX (read September 25, 2026). TopstepX only signs in over ProjectX, which Shifu does not route to today. If you are not sure, pick the platform you log into and answer the connect question — it sorts it out. Whether your firm allows automation is its rule to check.

Is the Rithmic route live?

Yes. The Rithmic route is live and ready, alongside the Tradovate route.

Can I keep NinjaTrader’s ATM strategies?

Shifu places the bracket at the broker from the alert itself — a take-profit and a stop, one cancelling the other, and optionally a trailing stop — so you do not need an ATM on the desktop for those. What you run inside NinjaTrader is up to you; Shifu only sends the orders your alert asks for.
