Shifu vs CrossTrade

Looking for a CrossTrade alternative? This is the honest comparison. CrossTrade’s figures are from its own pricing page, docs, FAQ and other public pages as read on September 25, 2026. Company names belong to their owners.

Both route a TradingView alert to unlimited accounts for a flat price, both reach Tradovate in the cloud, and both have a journal, Claude or ChatGPT access and a pause around high-impact news. CrossTrade runs NinjaTrader 8 through an add-on on your PC or its Chicago VPS, with ATM templates by name; on NinjaTrader 8 and Tradovate alike it sells a mirroring product and an Account Manager that flattens and locks an account when a limit hits, with the API and the AI agent on higher plans. Shifu is one plan at $40 a month that reaches NinjaTrader accounts over Tradovate or Rithmic with nothing installed, forwards your alert to every account at once, and enforces no loss limit or lock on your behalf.

What CrossTrade’s pages say

  • Three plans, every one with unlimited accounts and unlimited alerts: Standard $29/mo ($279 billed yearly), Pro $49/mo ($469/yr) adds the REST API, the mirroring product and the Account Manager, Elite $99/mo ($949/yr) adds Signal Share and the MCP server for AI trading. No per-account fees. Every plan card reads “Single machine”, and its billing FAQ says running live in a second place needs a second subscription. A 7-day free trial with no card.
  • Two rails, both on every plan: NinjaTrader 8 through a desktop add-on (your PC, or its Windows VPS in Chicago), and Tradovate entirely in the cloud through an OAuth link with nothing to install.
  • Prop firms: Tradovate-based funded firms (Lucid and Tradeify are named) link through a demo login; on NinjaTrader 8, any account type the platform supports. Its pages describe it as an approved NinjaTrader Ecosystem vendor and an authorized Tradovate OAuth partner.
  • A trade journal, per-account risk rules (daily loss and gain thresholds, trailing drawdown, scheduled flattening, signal locks), trading windows, and a REST API.

What both do

  • Brackets and trailing stops from the alert: CrossTrade attaches a take-profit and stop-loss from the alert on NinjaTrader 8, runs NinjaTrader ATM templates by name, and on Tradovate places a native bracket, a native trailing stop, or a trail that starts after a set distance (run by CrossTrade); Shifu carries take_profit, stop_loss and a trailing stop in the alert, resting at Tradovate.
  • One alert to several accounts at once — CrossTrade through multi-account placement and its mirroring product, Shifu by routing one bot to every attached account.
  • Tradovate in the cloud with your computer off. On NinjaTrader 8, CrossTrade needs its add-on running on a PC or VPS; Shifu reaches a NinjaTrader account over Tradovate or Rithmic with nothing installed.
  • A trade journal built from fills, and Claude or ChatGPT access over MCP — CrossTrade’s on Elite, where the agent can place trades; Shifu’s on every plan, where it never can.
  • Practice first: NinjaTrader Sim and Tradovate demo accounts on CrossTrade; a Practice account on Shifu.
  • A news pause. CrossTrade’s Economic-Event Lockout refuses incoming signals from five minutes before to five minutes after each high-impact USD release, on NinjaTrader 8 and Tradovate, and on Pro can also flatten an account as the window opens (its docs, read September 25, 2026); Shifu’s red-folder shield is opt-in per bot.

Where CrossTrade is strong

  • NinjaTrader 8 depth. ATM templates attached by name, orders on your own data feed, remote backtests through the Strategy Analyzer, and a vendor listing in NinjaTrader’s Ecosystem. If your trading lives inside NT8, nothing here matches it.
  • Enforced limits. On NinjaTrader 8 and, in its cloud, on Tradovate, the Account Manager holds each account to daily loss and gain thresholds and a trailing drawdown, flattens when one hits, locks the account, and can flatten it ahead of high-impact news (Pro plan). Shifu deliberately does none of that.
  • The mirroring product: a leader account mirrored to unlimited followers with independent sizing, symbol replacement, inversion and stealth mode, on NT8 and Tradovate.
  • A REST API on Pro, and an AI agent that can trade on Elite.

Where Shifu is different

  • One price, everything in it. Shifu is $40 a month or $480 a year with the journal, Claude or ChatGPT control and the news shield included. On CrossTrade the journal comes with every plan and the news lockout’s signal block with every paid plan; the mirroring product, the API and the news flatten start at $49, and the MCP server at $99.
  • Shifu forwards. It never decides. No loss limit, no lock, no flatten-on-threshold: your firm’s rules stay yours, the news shield holds entries only on the bots you opt in, and nothing in Shifu can close a position your alert did not close. Some traders want the opposite, and CrossTrade sells it.
  • AI that cannot trade. Shifu’s MCP lets Claude or ChatGPT create and pause bots, attach accounts and read the journal, and cannot place an order — by design. CrossTrade’s agent can when it is given its trade scope; its read-only scope cannot.
  • Rithmic accounts with nothing on your desk: Shifu signs in to a Rithmic login itself, live today. CrossTrade reaches Rithmic accounts through NinjaTrader 8 and its add-on, on a PC or its VPS (its docs, September 25, 2026). A NinjaTrader login on the Tradovate route runs in the cloud on both.
  • The news window. Shifu’s opt-in shield holds new entries for the whole trading day of a high-impact release and always lets exits through. CrossTrade’s lockout covers five minutes before to five minutes after the release, and can also flatten the account as the window opens (its docs, September 25, 2026).

Choose CrossTrade if

  • Your execution lives in NinjaTrader 8 — ATM templates, your own data feed, NinjaScript — and you want automation to speak that language.
  • You want the platform to enforce daily loss limits and trailing drawdown for you, and to lock the account when a threshold hits.
  • You want an AI agent or a REST API that can place trades, and you are on a plan that includes them.
  • You want signals refused and the account flattened around high-impact news releases.

Choose Shifu if

  • You want Claude or ChatGPT control included in a $40 plan, and Rithmic accounts reached with no desktop add-on to keep alive.
  • You want a router that forwards your alert exactly and never closes or locks anything on its own.
  • You trade Tradovate, NinjaTrader or Rithmic accounts and want the alert, the fill, the journal and the practice account in one place.

Questions people ask

Can I move a CrossTrade alert to Shifu without rewriting it?

No. CrossTrade uses its own command fields, sent as key=value lines such as destination=tradovate; or, since September 21, 2026, as flat JSON with the same field names. Neither is a format Shifu reads. Paste the ready-made JSON message from the bot’s Setup tab into the alert instead — it takes about two minutes per alert.

Does Shifu need the NinjaTrader 8 add-on or a VPS?

No. Shifu reaches a NinjaTrader account over the rail it signs in on — Tradovate or Rithmic, both live — and nothing is installed on your desktop.

Will Shifu enforce my prop firm’s loss limits?

No. Shifu forwards your own alerts and does not watch a daily loss limit, a drawdown or your trading hours. CrossTrade’s Account Manager does, and if you want that enforced for you it is the better fit.

Which is cheaper?

For webhooks alone, on NinjaTrader 8 or Tradovate, CrossTrade’s Standard plan at $29/mo is cheaper than Shifu’s $40/mo. With its mirroring product and API (Pro, $49/mo) or its MCP server (Elite, $99/mo) it costs more, and each CrossTrade plan card reads “Single machine”.
